Guwahati police recover 100 kg aluminium wire, investigate theft network
Guwahati’s Basistha Police have recovered around 100 kilogrammes of aluminium wire during an investigation into alleged theft-related activities in different parts of the city. Two individuals in connection with the probe have been detained. According to police, the two were allegedly involved in the incidents reported from different parts of Guwahati. During the operation, officers recovered a substantial quantity of aluminium wire that was connected with the reported thefts. Vedanta Aluminium is equipping its specialised aluminium portfolio to meet rising demand from India’s power transmission sector as the country expands its grid to accommodate growing renewable energy capacity . US imported 11.5x more primary aluminium from Canada than it exported in semi-fabricated form in H1 2026 - know why
At the US-Canada border, aluminium is constantly on the move, but the direction of trade is far from balanced. In the first six months of 2026, the US imported 907,581.44 tonnes of primary aluminium from Canada, while exporting only 78,886.12 tonnes of semi-fabricated aluminium products such as sheets, plates, foils, extruded profiles, tubes and wire to Canada. US therefore imported about 11.5 times more primary aluminium from Canada than it exported in semi-fabricated form. That raises a question for the aluminium industry. If such large volumes of Canadian primary metal are entering the US, and the country has a sizeable downstream processing base, why is so little semi-finished aluminium travelling back to Canada? According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), China's aluminium wire and cable exports reached 102,800 tonnes in July 2026, representing a year-on-year surge of 481.8 per cent but a month-on-month decline of 8.5 per cent . Germany’s Q1’26 aluminium exports dip 26% as bars, rods, profiles post steeper fall
Germany’s aluminium exports to the global market in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026 have taken a significant dip compared with the previous years. The cumulative exports in Q1 totalled around 469,178.09 tonnes, valued at USD 2.6 billion. Out of this, aluminium bars, rods and profiles contributed 52,071.88 tonnes or 11.1 per cent, valued at USD 423.34 million.
