A Breakthrough in Alumina Security Filtration Performance: Discover how a new patent-pending filter fabric significantly increases flow rate and service life.

By Luc Parent and Sylvain Vieuille

Scale buildup on filter bags gradually restricts liquor flow, limiting the capacity of alumina security filtration. Join Sefar's filtration specialists to see how SEFAR® X-TREME resists scaling in Kelly and Diastar pressure leaf filters. They will share findings from full-scale refinery trials, explain what the results mean for production and maintenance, and discuss where more stable flow could create value in your operation.

You'll see:

  • Why scale buildup reduces flow and shortens filter bag life in security filtration.
  • How SEFAR® X-TREME limits scale adhesion while maintaining solids capture.
  • What full-scale Kelly and Diastar trials reveal about flow stability over time.
  • How stable flow can support higher filtration capacity with existing equipment.
  • What the results could mean for cleaning, bag changes, and operating reliability.

    Why does this webinar matter?

This webinar matters for alumina refinery teams evaluating capacity, maintenance and reliability in security filtration:

    • Identify a capacity constraint - see how declining bag permeability can limit production before the filter reaches its design capacity.
    • Assess the evidence - review operating data and fabric analysis from refinery trials, including how changing process conditions affect comparisons.
    • Consider maintenance impact - explore how reduced scale adhesion will affect cleaning and bag replacement.
    • Connect results to your plant - understand which operating conditions matter when evaluating potential capacity gains.
    • Ask the specialists - bring questions about your Kelly or Diastar filters to the live Q&A.
    Who should attend the webinar?

This webinar is for alumina refinery professionals involved in the Bayer process, particularly:

    • Production and plant managers
    • Process and filtration engineers
    • Maintenance and reliability managers
    • Technical services and continuous improvement teams
    • Engineers evaluating Kelly or Diastar filter performance

    Webinar Structure

This webinar will help alumina refinery professionals understand how SEFAR® X-TREME filter fabric can reduce scale adhesion, maintain liquor flow and extend filter bag service life in alumina security filtration. Drawing on full-scale Kelly and Diastar filter trials, it will explain the technology's potential to increase filtration capacity, reduce maintenance requirements and improve operating reliability.

    Topics covered:

    • Where filtration capacity is lost: how scale forms on filter media, restricts flow, and creates a recurring need for cleaning or bag replacement.
    • How the fabric works: the material properties behind SEFAR® X-TREME's resistance to scale adhesion and its suitability for the Bayer process.
    • What Kelly filter trials showed: how flow changed over time against a reference fabric, and how operating data, permeability measurements, and surface analysis support the findings.
    • What the Diastar evaluation examined: how performance was assessed across filtration cycles, including flow stability, bag condition, and the influence of changing plant conditions.
    • What to consider at your refinery: how to relate the findings to filter type, feed conditions, maintenance practices, and production targets.
