Guwahati police recover 100 kg aluminium wire, investigate theft network

Guwahati’s Basistha Police have recovered around 100 kilogrammes of aluminium wire during an investigation into alleged theft-related activities in different parts of the city. Two individuals in connection with the probe have been detained.

According to police, the two were allegedly involved in the incidents reported from different parts of Guwahati. During the operation, officers recovered a substantial quantity of aluminium wire that was connected with the reported thefts.

The individuals have been identified as Abdur Rahim, who was taken into custody from Behebar, and Anshuman Basumatary, who was apprehended from Amtola.

The recovery also included 40 Dextrose injections, which were reportedly supplied for use under the National Health Mission (NHM). Investigators are also looking into whether the recovered materials could be linked to a broader theft network.

The action followed an investigation into theft-related activities under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. The recovered aluminium wire, Dextrose injections and other seized materials have been taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

Further investigation is underway to establish the source of both the aluminium wire and the Dextrose injections and determine whether other individuals may have been involved in the alleged thefts.
