Highway Roop acquires Chamundi to expand aluminium die-casting, machining capabilities
Highway Roop Precision Technologies Limited, backed by Carlyle, has completed the acquisition of Chamundi Die Cast Private Limited, an Indian manufacturer of complex, precision-machined aluminium die-cast components for automotive and industrial applications. The acquisition adds aluminium die-casting and precision-machining capabilities to Highway Roop’s existing forging and machining platform. The combined business will serve applications across steering, transmission, powertrain and electric vehicle components while expanding Highway Roop’s manufacturing footprint into South India. German downstream aluminium exports fall 13% in H1 2026 but US enters top 5 with 228.1% import surge
Germany’s downstream aluminium export map underwent a noticeable shift in H1 2026. Shipments to the world fell, with most of Germany’s traditional European customers taking less aluminium downstream product. Yet, amid that broad retreat, one market moved in the opposite direction: the United States. German downstream aluminium exports to the world fell to 897,773.19 tonnes in H1 2026 from 1 million tonnes in H1 2025, a decline of 13 per cent year on year. The contrast was particularly sharp in the US market. American imports of German downstream aluminium reached 68,061.61 tonnes in H1 2026, up 228.1 per cent from just 20,743.62 tonnes in H1 2025. Guwahati police recover 100 kg aluminium wire, investigate theft network
Guwahati’s Basistha Police have recovered around 100 kilogrammes of aluminium wire during an investigation into alleged theft-related activities in different parts of the city. Two individuals in connection with the probe have been detained. According to police, the two were allegedly involved in the incidents reported from different parts of Guwahati. US-Canada tariff tensions drive 84% rise in aluminum prices for Texas fabricator
A Texas metal fabricator says the cost of aluminum has risen sharply as trade tensions between the US and Canada add pressure to cross-border supply chains. Lance Thrailkill, CEO of All Metals Fabricating in Allen, said the company has seen aluminum prices increase by 84% since March last year, with much of its aluminum sourced from Canada. The higher material costs are affecting both the company’s margins and what its customers pay. Thrailkill mentioned, “Fortunately, we’re able to pass a lot of that on to our customer base, but oftentimes also we do get squeezed in terms of margin, so you might be able to maintain the same profit amount, but your margin goes down, so that is not ideal.” Thrailkill noted that the company has had to adjust how it manages its aluminum inventory as prices...
