China’s aluminium imports flat, exports slump; molten-metal shift keeps physical ingot tight despite 163,600 tonnes net inflow

According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China(GACC), China’s primary aluminium imports totalled 185,500 tonnes in August 2026, down 14.65 per cent year-on-year (YoY) and up just 0.16 per cent month-on-month (MoM). For January–August, cumulative imports reached 1.66 million tonnes, down 3.41 per cent YoY. August exports stood at 21,900 tonnes, down 14.53 per cent YoY and 30.48 per cent MoM. Cumulative exports for the first eight months were 167,500 tonnes, up 9.26 per cent YoY. National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) expects revenue to reach INR 190-200 billion (USD 2.29–2.41 billion) in the current year, supported by higher alumina production and stronger aluminium prices, while an INR 250-billion (USD 3.01 billion) expansion programme is set to reshape its upstream, smelting and power capacities by FY31. BIS seizes pharmaceutical aluminium foil worth ₹1.4m from Rohtak firm

The Bureau of Indian Standards has seized about three tonnes of aluminium foil intended for pharmaceutical packaging from a Rohtak-based firm over suspected violations of India’s mandatory quality-certification rules. The Haryana office of BIS said it recovered about 250 rolls of foil, with an estimated value of INR 1.4 million (USD 14,695), during an enforcement operation at Jainalco Industries Limited. BIS cites missing licence According to BIS, the foil was covered by Indian Standard IS 16011, which applies to aluminium and aluminium-alloy foil used for pharmaceutical packaging.
