Mayville Engineering Company (MEC) plans to invest around $26 million in a metal fabrication facility. The facility is in Thomson, Georgia, USA. The project is expected to create about 140 jobs. LME aluminium offer price rises to $3,134.5/t as stocks remain unchanged at 240,375t
LME aluminium prices moved higher on October 6 compared with the previous trading day, with cash and three-month prices rising by nearly 1 per cent. The increase came as LME aluminium opening stocks remained unchanged, while live warrants declined and cancelled warrants increased. On October 6, the LME aluminium cash bid price stood at USD 3,134 per tonne, up 0.90 per cent from USD 3,106 per tonne on October 5. The cash offer price stood at USD 3,134.5 per tonne , compared with USD 3,107 per tonne on October 5, marking a 0.89 per cent increase. EU CBAM certificate price jumps to €82.32 in Q3, highest level of 2026
The European Commission sets the Q3 2026 price of CBAM certificates at EUR 82.32 (USD 92.66), up from EUR 75.28 (USD 84.74) in Q2 and EUR 75.36 (USD 84.83) in Q1, making it the highest quarterly price published so far this year. The Commission calculates CBAM certificate prices based on the weighted average of auction clearing prices for EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) allowances. The methodology is designed to align the carbon cost applied to EU producers with that applied to imports covered by the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Yamaha’s recycled aluminum breakthrough targets 47,000-tonne annual CO2 reduction
Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. will progressively replace conventional virgin aluminum with recycled aluminum alloy in its proprietary all-aluminum DiASil Cylinders, marking a move to recycled materials in a high-performance motorcycle component. Once the transition is completed across all products using DiASil Cylinders, targeted for 2030, Yamaha estimates that the switch will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 47,000 tonnes annually. The Novas Minas project will maintain MRN’s 12.5 million metric tons/year bauxite output while strengthening supply links across Brazil’s aluminum chain. Brazilian bauxite producer Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN) is investing R$9 billion ($1.8 billion) to extend operations at its mining complex in Pará through 2041, securing long-term production from new reserves near its existing sites. MRN has operated in northern Pará since the 1970s and first applied for environmental approval to extend the mine’s operating life in 2018. Brazilian authorities granted approval for the long-term expansion in April 2026. RevoCast’s newly commissioned aluminum billet facility in British Columbia is set to supply more low-carbon extrusion material to North American manufacturers through a new agreement with Rio Tinto. The Langley plant, which began operations in August 2026, can produce more than 80,000 metric tons of 6xxx-series aluminum billet annually. Under the agreement, Rio Tinto will exclusively market the billet, which combines low-carbon primary aluminum produced using hydropower at Rio Tinto’s Kitimat operations with recycled aluminum processed by RevoCast. Leading Indian aluminium producer Vedanta has renewed its push to revive bauxite mining at Odisha’s Niyamgiri hills, about 13 years after the proposed project was shelved. With Niyamgiri hosting around 80 million tonnes of bauxite reserves, the renewed proposal brings the resource potential of the Kalahandi-Rayagada belt back into focus.
