The downstream aluminium sector witnessed another eventful week. The European leader for manufacturing high-quality aluminium components for the automotive sector, Salzburg Aluminium, reported its expansion in Canada and United States, opening a new office in Toronto and Charlotte. While the European Union voiced days ahead of Joe Biden’s visit to Brussels, it is time for the United States to compose definitive commitments to conclude transatlantic trade tensions.
Hindalco Industries Limited has raised its aluminium products price after cutting it on Friday, 04 June. With effect from Saturday 05 June 2021, aluminium billets price stands at INR 211,850 per tonne, up to INR 1,750 per tonne or 0.83% from INR 210,100 per tonne on June 4.

The United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars imports from Oman have been consistently seeing an upward trend since the beginning of 2021. In March, the imports reached 10,400 tonnes, reflecting an increase of 4,620 tonnes or 79.93 per cent month-on-month. In February, the United States imported 39.28 per cent higher at 5,780 tonnes compared to 4,150 tonnes in January.
On Monday, June 7, Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that it successfully certified Kaiser Aluminum against the Performance Standard Certification with Provisional status. Kaiser has achieved the certification for its ingot casting centres, rolling mills, and finishing production centres in Warrick County, Indiana, USA.
Ulsan Aluminum Limited has joined ASI as new Production and Transformation member, bringing the total number of ASI Members to 173. The company is a joint venture between Novelis and Kobe Steel.

Manaksia Aluminium Company Limited, a producer of aluminium rolled products in coil and sheet form, has reported an increase of 35.14 per cent in its total income in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2021 ended on March 31. From INR 66.70 crore in Q3, Manaksia’s total income in Q4 rose to INR 90.14 crore.
Hindalco Industries Limited has further increased its aluminium products and aluminium ingot prices by INR 1,750 per tonne, with effect from Wednesday, June 9. The company’s aluminium wire rod price has thus come in at INR 217,600 per tonne as against INR 215,850 per tonne on June 5.
Chinalco-SWA Co., Ltd. has become new Production & Transformation member of ASI, bringing the total number of ASI Members to 172. The company is a state-owned “Low Carbon, Green Aluminum processing” enterprise.

The world’s largest Island country, Indonesia recorded 4097 tonnes of aluminium tubes or pipes fittings importation during 2019-20 and the revenue expended for the import accounted for $55.45 million.
National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has reduced its aluminium products and aluminium ingot prices with effect from Tuesday, June 8, a week after it significantly raised its aluminium products prices on June 1. NALCO’s aluminium wire rod price has witnessed a cut of INR 3,400 per tonne or 1.60 per cent to INR 204,450-208,800 per tonne.
Hindalco Industries Limited has hiked its aluminium products price by INR 2,000 per tonne. With effect from Thursday, 10 June 2021, aluminium billets price stands at INR 215,600 per tonne, up 0.94% from INR 213,600 per tonne on June 9.

According to Shanghai Metals Market, stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across five major consumption areas in China declined by 1,100 tonnes from the previous week to stand at 88,400 tonnes as of Thursday, 10 June 2021.
