2025 Global bauxite production stands at around 480MT - From Weipa to Paragominas, who’s powered the growth?

Bauxite is the primary raw material used to produce alumina and, ultimately, aluminium - a metal essential to modern infrastructure, transport, packaging and clean energy systems. From power transmission lines to electric vehicles and beverage cans, aluminium’s widespread use begins with stable and sufficient bauxite supply.

Against this backdrop, the global bauxite market is entering 2026 with firmer fundamentals. AL Circle research estimates global bauxite production at 475–480 million tonnes in 2025, with output projected to rise by 6 per cent year-on-year in 2026.
