Alumobility, a global ecosystem of leading aluminium and downstream technology partners that support automotive manufacturers in creating lighter, safer, smarter and more sustainable vehicles, has announced that it has welcomed ARO, Atlas Copco and Sika as new members. They are the experts in joining techniques for aluminium and other metals and will contribute knowledge about aluminium auto body sheet components assembly such as closures, body structures and battery enclosures.

The launch of Alumobility by founding members Constellium and Novelis dates back to January 2021. The non-profit organisation conducts technical studies to help automakers utilise aluminium auto body sheet for manufacturing lighter and more efficient vehicles in the future.
This autumn, Alumobility will launch a new study on the latest joining methods to demonstrate the value and performance of various joining scenarios that can be used for aluminium-intensive vehicles. The findings of the study will be shared in upcoming global auto industry conferences.
This project follows Consortium’s study on aluminium door design that showcased a 45 per cent weight savings compared to steel doors and at the same time higher safety specifications and other customer performance criteria.
Automakers still rely on lightweight, high-strength and sustainable aluminium to shape the future auto industry with ligher, safer, smarter and sustainable vehicles.
