SuperAlloy Industrial is pushing into semiconductor equipment components as it seeks to build a second growth engine alongside its established automotive wheel business, with customer validation of aluminium chamber components now under way.

The Taiwanese aluminium manufacturer reported consolidated revenue of TWD 550 million (USD 17.44 million) in August, up 2.46 per cent year on year. Revenue for January - August 2026 reached TWD 5.052 billion (USD 160.22 million), an increase of 6.34 per cent from the same period a year earlier.

The automotive business continues to provide the company's core revenue base. August shipments held up despite the seasonal summer slowdown among European and US automakers, supported by demand from global supercar and luxury brands including JLR and BMW. SuperAlloy expects forged wheel shipments to regain momentum as customers return from their summer breaks in September.

Targeting semiconductor equipment's aluminium challenge

SuperAlloy is working with customers to accelerate validation of aluminium components used in front-end semiconductor equipment, including CVD, PVD and etch chambers.

The company sees an opportunity in a supply chain where imported aluminium plate and conventional CNC machining have traditionally played a major role. According to SuperAlloy, machining scrap rates for some of these components can exceed 70 per cent, creating both material inefficiency and higher carbon emissions.

Its response is to apply its forging capabilities to semiconductor aluminium components, potentially reducing the amount of material that has to be removed during machining.

The strategy also fits with the semiconductor industry's broader push towards supply-chain localisation and lower Scope 3 emissions, giving SuperAlloy an avenue to apply its existing aluminium-processing expertise to a market outside automotive.

The company cited foreign market research showing that the global market for aluminium materials used in key semiconductor equipment components is expected to grow at a 6.6 per cent CAGR from 2026 to 2031. It said the broader market for other semiconductor aluminium materials is projected to expand at a faster 17.2 per cent CAGR over the same period.

SuperAlloy is now focused on completing customer validation of its chamber components. The company said future demand visibility for the semiconductor business is strong, although the material qualification process remains an important step before the opportunity can translate into broader commercial volumes.

Automotive remains the near-term base

The company expects European and US new-car markets to enter their traditional year-end delivery season in the fourth quarter, while launches of new models from several supercar and luxury brands are expected to support custom wheel shipments.

Meanwhile, output from SuperAlloy's second Pingtung smelting facility is continuing to ramp up. The company expects the combination of higher aluminium output and progress in semiconductor material validation to support its longer-term diversification strategy.

SuperAlloy said it will continue to focus on product quality, efficiency-driven cost reduction and localised green, net-zero operations as it develops what it describes as a dual-engine model spanning automotive and semiconductors.

The objective is to increase the contribution of non-auto products, while improving gross margins and profitability over the longer term.
