Sampat Aluminium shareholders unanimously approved the company’s FY26 financial statements and three other resolutions at its 27th Annual General Meeting held on September 26, 2026. Sampat Aluminium Limited passed all four ordinary resolutions at its 27th AGM, with 54,69,800 votes cast in favour and no votes against. The meeting was held through video conferencing, while remote e-voting was available from September 23 to September 25, 2026. The United States and Mexico have postponed their fourth round of trade talks until October, extending uncertainty for North American manufacturers as both governments continue discussions on tariffs affecting automobiles, steel, and aluminum. Mexico’s Deputy Economy Minister for Foreign Trade, Luis Rosendo Gutiérrez, said the meeting would not take place as planned in September because of scheduling conflicts, including Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States and the upcoming G20 trade ministerial. India’s aluminium extrusion output falls to close to 900kt as capacity utilisation slumps near 30%
India’s aluminium extrusion industry is facing mounting pressure as production has dropped while manufacturers operate at only about 30 per cent of installed capacity, prompting concerns over the viability of several factories. The Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI) has also sought the removal of the 7.5 per cent basic customs duty on primary aluminium which, together with the applicable surcharge, results in an effective duty of about 8.25 per cent, arguing that the levy is adding to raw-material costs for domestic downstream manufacturers. As India advances to deepen its footprint in the global aluminium platform, Odisha is aiming to strengthen its aluminium industry connection with West Bengal. Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy expressed interest in joining Odisha’s strong aluminium production base with Bengal’s downstream manufacturing potential, partnering the two eastern states in building a broader aluminium ecosystem. “Today, Odisha is a powerhouse when it comes to the aluminium industry, with 67-72 per cent of the production coming from the state. Vedanta Aluminium is equipping its specialised aluminium portfolio to meet rising demand from India’s power transmission sector as the country expands its grid to accommodate growing renewable energy capacity . Vedanta expects the transmission buildout to require application-specific aluminium grades with varying combinations of strength, conductivity and corrosion resistance, depending on terrain and operating conditions. Researchers develop new aluminium powder for foamable WAAM wire
Researchers at Leibniz University Hannover in Germany have developed a custom aluminium alloy and produced pre-alloyed powder using Electrode Induction Melting Inert Gas Atomisation (EIGA), with the material being developed for metallic foams and, ultimately, foamable wire for Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). The research, published in The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, focused on creating an aluminium alloy with a melting range suitable for producing metal foams while retaining enough workability for subsequent extrusion into thin wire.
