Mexico and Argentina take different AD actions on Chinese aluminium products

Mexico and Argentina are moving in different directions on aluminium imports from China. Mexico has imposed a new anti-dumping duty on aluminium bars, rods and profiles, while Argentina has dropped its existing anti-dumping order on certain aluminium tubes.
Mexico has issued an anti-dumping duty order covering Chinese mainland aluminium bars, rods and profiles classified under HTSMX 7604.10.02, 7604.10.99, 7604.29.01, 7604.29.02 and 7604.29.99. Imports of the subject products will face an anti-dumping duty of USD 1.58 per kg for the next five years.
Meanwhile, Argentina has rescinded its anti-dumping duty order on certain Chinese mainland aluminium tubes following sunset and changed-circumstances reviews.
The measure covered aluminium tubes, whether alloyed or non-alloyed, produced according to the IRAM 681 series 3xxx or 6xxx standards, with an external diameter of no more than 130 millimetres. The products are classified under NCM 7608.10.00 and 7608.20.90 and include tubes presented in rolls.
The two decisions represent contrasting developments for Chinese aluminium products in Latin American markets. While Mexico has introduced a five-year anti-dumping duty on aluminium bars, rods and profiles, Argentina has removed its existing measure on certain aluminium tubes.
Mexico’s measures also cover ammonium sulphate, polycarbonate sheets and paperboard, while Argentina’s review includes electric ovens and ceramic insulators alongside aluminium products.
