
According to the US Census Bureau data, the United States aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from Australia recorded a month-on-month jump of 353.68 per cent to 19,100 tonnes in August 2022. Last month, the import volume was abysmally low at 4,210 tonnes compared to 34,800 tonnes in June.

A similar trend was seen in the earlier three months during March-May. In March 2022, the US import of aluminium crude metals and alloys from Australia was 19,300 tonnes, which plunged by 226 per cent next month to 5,920 tonnes but hiked in May by 482.77 per cent to 34,500 tonnes.
On a year-on-year calculation, the United States crude metals and alloys imports from Australia in August 2022 edged 3.80 per cent higher than 18,400 tonnes.
From January to August 2022, the United States imported 155,000 tonnes of aluminium crude metals and alloys from Australia, which was 102.61 per cent up from 76,500 tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
The United States total import of aluminium crude metals and alloys in August 2022 was 360,000 tonnes versus 345,000 tonnes in July. That was a month-on-month increase of 15,000 tonnes or 4.35 per cent, found USGS data. On a year-on-year basis, the import volume in August recorded a hike of 12.85 per cent from 319,000 tonnes.
In the first eight months of the year, the United States imported 2.85 million tonnes of aluminium crude metals and alloys versus 2.35 million tonnes a year ago.
