
The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Ulsan Aluminum against the Performance Standard Certification for casting, hot/cold rolling, and finishing operations in its South Korea plant. The news came after the ASI announced that it successfully certified Ulsan Aluminum Limited on Friday, December 10.

Ulsan Aluminum, a joint venture between Novelis and Kobe steel in Japan, produces rolled materials in its South Korea plant, destined for automotive, electronic, construction, and packaging sector applications. The facility has an annual capacity of 400,000 tonnes.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We warmly congratulate Ulsan Aluminum on achieving ASI Performance Standard Certification for its rolling operations. The company’s aluminum products provide lightweighting benefits in automobiles, corrosion resistance benefits in buildings, and ease of recyclability benefits in packaging applications. The ASI Certification is an important signal to its customers that the plant’s production activities are undertaken in accordance with key sustainability criteria.”

The independent, third-party audit of the Ulsan Aluminum Limited plant was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
