This coupled with a good year in sugarcane should boost the Northern Division economy, says Labasa Chamber of Commerce president Ashok Karan.
Mr Karan said businesses in the north had dropped and businesses have not been able to sell their products.
He said the sugar industry was the main income earner for many in the north and he hoped the wood chip mill at Wairiki and the bauxite mining at Nawailevu, rice farming, the sugar industry and fishing would revive the northern economy.
