LME aluminium price closed US$29/t higher at US$2373.50/t; SHFE price shed US$6/t to US$2801/t

Three-month LME aluminium settled 0.3 per cent lower at US$ 2,358.50 per tonne on Thursday, April 22, and is expected to move between US$ 2,340-2,390 per tonne today.

LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price increased by US$ 29 per tonne to stand at US$ 2,373.50 per tonne on April 22. 3-months bid price and 3-months offer price grew to US$ 2,368.50 per tonne from US$ 2,337 per tonne. Dec 22 bid price and Dec 22 offer price came in at US$ 2,379.50 per tonne on Thursday, climbing down by US$ 29.50 per tonne from the previous day.

The LME aluminium opening stock decreased from 1809250 tonnes to 1802450 tonnes. Live Warrants totalled 1238750 tonnes, while Cancelled Warrants stood at 563700 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-months Asian Reference Price grew from US$ 2316.21per tonne on April 21 to US$ 2355.96 per tonne on April 22, 2021.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE inched down by US$ 6 per tonne to close the week on Friday, April 23, at US$ 2801 per tonne.

The most-active SHFE 2106 aluminium contract dipped 0.19 per cent to close at RMB 18,140 per tonne in overnight trading, with open interest rising 7,182 lots to 278,252 lots. Domestic aluminium social inventories stood at about 1.14 million tonnes, slightly lower compared with the same period last year. SHFE aluminium is likely to fluctuate between RMB 18,100-18,300 per tonne today.
