
According to the latest report from the US Geological Survey, US domestic primary aluminium production stood at 69,000 tonnes in February 2021. The average daily output came in at 2,470 tonnes, slightly down from January 2021 and 18% less from February 2020.
Total aluminium recovered from scrap was 248,000 tonnes in February 2021, down 3% from the revised total in January 2021, 10% from the revised amount in February 2020, and 9% less from February 2019.
{alcircleadd}Of this, 132,000 tonnes of aluminium was recovered from new scrap and 117,000 tonnes was recovered from old scrap.
In February, the average U.S. spot market price of primary aluminium ingot was $1.10 per pound, an increase of 4% from January 2021.
Inventories of primary aluminium in LME-approved warehouses, including off-warrant inventories, in the United States stood at 195,873 tonnes in February 2021, down from 204,948 tonnes in January 2021. Inventories of secondary aluminium (North American Secondary Aluminium Alloy Contract) decreased to 21,102 tonnes at the end of February 2021.
