‘Exercise caution on bauxite mining'
Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Satrucharla Vijayarama Raju on Wednesday said any decision on bauxite mining in the Agency should be taken only after addressing the concerns of all stakeholders, including tribal people. The Minister inaugurated some development works and launched a few new species of animals at the Indira Zoological Park here on Wednesday.

Interacting with the media, he felt that any hasty decision on the project could lead to unforeseen consequences. Efforts should be made to educate tribal people on the pros and cons of the project. The Central government, on its part, should strive for an amicable solution. While industrialisation could spur the growth of the economy and generate employment, care should be taken to protect the environment by ensuring minimum pollution. He said that the government should act tough on polluting industries.
