Mr.V. Kishore Chandra Deo opposes bauxite mining in vizag agency

The Union minister for tribal affairs and panchayat raj, Mr V. Kishore Chandra Deo, vehemently opposed the proposed bauxite mining in the Visakha-patnam Agency by state government. Such projects can only benefit individuals but not tribals, he opined.
Apart from this, mining could also damage the environment, he added.
Speaking to reporters at his residence here on Wednesday during his visit in view of Sankranti, Mr Deo wondered who had ultimately benefited from the Obulapuram and Bellary mines.
He added that steps were being taken to club non-scheduled villages of tribals into scheduled ones.
Mr Kishore Chandra Deo, observed that availability of impure water was the prime reason for the increasing number of diseases in tribal areas. Locals’ judgment at gram sabhas was enough to propose construction of roads in forest areas, he added.
