Congress seeks probe into bauxite mining in kerala, India

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday demanded the cancellation of the sanction given for bauxite mining at Kadaladi Para in Kasaragod.
He also demanded a probe into the circumstances under which the previous LDF government awarded the sanction in 2007.
Chennithala raised the demands in letters sent to chief minister Oommen Chandy and industries minister PK Kunhalikutty.
During Chennithala's visit to Kadaladi Para on Tuesday, local residents had raised their concerns over mining in the traditionally agriculture area. They also said the mining would affect two rivers in the region.
