Bauxite export down in Brazil in November

Brazil’s exports of bauxite and aluminium fell in November, while alumina shipments increased, according to the country’s trade ministry.
Bauxite exports from Brazil reported a 14% fall in November after China and Canada reduced purchases.
Shipped volumes were 719,719 tonnes in the month, compared with 836,941 tonnes in November last year. Shipments were down 32.6% decrease from October, when 1.06 million tonnes were exported.
Export revenue in November stood at $29.74 million, compared with $30.43 million a year earlier.
China decreased its imports to 47,197 tonnes in the month, from 153,167 tonnes in November 2012. Canada acquired 225,224 tonnes, from 331,896 tonnes a year earlier. The USA increased its imports to 278,353 tonnes of bauxite, from 200,812 tonnes in the same month last year.
In the January-November period, exports were up 21.8% year-on-year at 7.71 million tonnes.
