German-made aluminium dome set up for 72nd National Film Awards in Gujarat
A German-engineered aluminium dome has been set up at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat as part of preparations for the 72nd National Film Awards, with the prestigious ceremony being held outside New Delhi for the first time. The temporary high-tech structure has been installed in the Bus Bay area near the Statue of Unity and will provide a climate-controlled venue for around 1,000 guests attending the national ceremony. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the dome is part of a specially created venue with the 182-metre Statue of Unity as its backdrop. Metlen invests €25m to expand recycled aluminium capacity in Greece
Metlen Energy & Metals PLC is investing EUR 25 million in its recycled aluminium production facility EP.AL.ME. in Greece, targeting higher processing capacity and greater use of complex aluminium scrap streams. The investment will fund automated sorting, processing and melting equipment at EP.AL.ME., which Metlen describes as Greece’s largest independent recycled aluminium producer. The project will allow the facility to process more complex scrap, including post-consumer aluminium recovered from end-of-life products. Vedanta Aluminium has become India’s second-largest exporter of goods from a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), recording exports of around USD 3.5 billion in FY26, according to the company. US aluminum tariffs push Canadian beer can costs up nearly 13%
US tariffs on aluminum are raising the cost of beer cans in Canada, putting pressure on breweries that rely on a closely linked cross-border supply chain. Walkerville Brewery in Windsor, Ontario, have so far avoided passing the higher costs on to customers. However, owner Mike Brkovich said the brewery may have to raise prices in the next three or four months as costs continue to increase. He said, “We’re going to have to increase the prices, I think, in the next three or four months. But we’re trying to hold the prices.” One of the clearest impacts is on aluminum cans. Brkovich said the cost of a 473 ml beer can has increased from around 31 cents to 35 cents following the tariff changes. London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminium prices moved lower on September 18, with cash, three-month and Dec-27 contracts declining from the previous session. Canadian aluminum exports face a fresh blow as US tariffs climb to 100%
Canadian aluminum fabricators are warning that their US sales could disappear after the latest US tariff measures pushed duties on some aluminum products to as high as 100 per cent, making Canadian-made goods less competitive in the US market. The new measures include a 50 per cent US tariff on aluminum products that previously benefited from exemptions.
