LME aluminium cash falls to $3,302.50 as Asian reference price climbs nearly 1%

London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminium prices edged lower on September 17, with cash and three-month contracts declining from the previous session. Dec-27 prices moved slightly higher, while the Asian reference price gained nearly 1 per cent. Opening stocks and live warrants remained unchanged, while cancelled warrants declined.

The LME aluminium cash bid price fell 0.21 per cent to USD 3,302.50 per tonne on September 17 from USD 3,310 per tonne, while the cash offer price declined 0.20 per cent to USD 3,303.50 per tonne from USD 3,310 per tonne.

The three-month aluminium bid and offer prices both fell 0.12 per cent. The bid price declined to USD 3,284 per tonne from USD 3,288 per tonne, while the offer price eased to USD 3,285 per tonne from USD 3,289 per tonne.

Both bid and offer prices for the Dec-27 contract increased 0.03 per cent. The bid rose to USD 3,203 per tonne from USD 3,202 per tonne, while the offer moved up to USD 3,208 per tonne from USD 3,207 per tonne.

The LME aluminium Asian reference price increased 0.99 per cent to USD 3,301.50 per tonne on September 17, compared with USD 3,269 per tonne on September 16.

LME aluminium opening stocks remained unchanged at 243,600 tonnes. Live warrants also held steady at 238,675 tonnes.

Cancelled warrants declined 20.30 per cent to 3,925 tonnes from 4,925 tonnes in the previous session.

LME alumina Platts price edged up to USD 356 per tonne from USD 355.90 per tonne from the previous session.
