German-made aluminium dome set up for 72nd National Film Awards in Gujarat

A German-engineered aluminium dome has been set up at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat as part of preparations for the 72nd National Film Awards, with the prestigious ceremony being held outside New Delhi for the first time.
The temporary high-tech structure has been installed in the Bus Bay area near the Statue of Unity and will provide a climate-controlled venue for around 1,000 guests attending the national ceremony. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the dome is part of a specially created venue with the 182-metre Statue of Unity as its backdrop.
More than 500 technicians, craftsmen and workers have been involved in building and preparing the venue, with work continuing in shifts ahead of the ceremony.

A separate air-conditioned dome is also being prepared for VIP guests, while a large pandal is being set up as part of the event infrastructure.
The temporary aluminium structure has been designed to create a large covered space within the Statue of Unity precinct while allowing organisers to retain the monument as the visual centre of the venue.
One of the ministry officials said, “The temporary infrastructure has been created to meet the requirements of an event that will bring together the President, award winners, film personalities, government officials and other dignitaries.”
The Narmada district administration is coordinating security, protocol, venue management and the movement of dignitaries for the ceremony.

The 72nd National Film Awards will see 92 award winners felicitated by President Droupadi Murmu. The main ceremony is expected to last around 75 minutes and is being organised by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The shift to Ekta Nagar marks a change in the more than seven-decade history of the National Film Awards, with the ceremony being hosted outside Delhi for the first time.
