Aluminium wires, for having characteristics like electrical-conductivity, corrosion-resistance, lightweight, high-strength, and low cost to produce, are nowadays becoming increasingly popular for electrical wiring and in utility grid transmission and distribution networks. Through 2021, the global aluminium wire market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of almost 2 per cent. To support the demand, Bahrain has emerged as one of the world’s largest aluminium wire producers and exporters over the recent decades.
Let us here see the country's trend of aluminium wire exports over the last few years and how it is likely to be in this ongoing year.
{alcircleadd}According to the international export-import data, Bahrain in 2020 is likely to export 154,467 tonnes of aluminium wire, of which 34,226 tonnes to Egypt. In 2019, Bahrain’s total aluminium wire exports were 182,547 tonnes, which represents the fact that this year will see a drop of about 15.38 per cent. However, until the last year, the country’s aluminium wire exports saw a year-on-year rise. While in 2019, the exports grew by 36 per cent from 134,438 tonnes in 2018, the latter year saw a rise of 32 per cent from 101,803 tonnes in 2017.

Also, Bahrain’s revenue from aluminium wire exports is estimated to stand lower this year by 18.27 per cent to US$228 million, followed by year-on-year rise last year. In 2019, Bahrain generated revenue of US$279 million from its aluminium wire export, up 63 per cent from the estimated revenue of US$171 million in 2018. In 2017, the revenue was US$184 million.
After Egypt, Saudi Arabia is expected to be the second largest aluminium wire importer from Bahrain in 2020, securing 29,219 tonnes.
