XINFA Bauxite Mining Group invests in community projects in Bua, Fiji

THE XINFA Bauxite Mining Group injected about $1.2million into the Vanua Levu economy last year in the form of workers salaries.
Group executive director Sang Lei said they were expecting more this year taking into account the amount of financial help they had been diverting towards community-centred projects in nearby villages.
Mr Lei said they had given about $100,000 towards community projects within the Bua province last year.
"We do support community projects and we are happy to be part of the development of communities surrounding the Nawailevu mine area," he said.
"We employ around 80 local workers who are mainly from Vanua Levu.
"Our employees include locals that hold managerial positions in the company, and also include those who provide labour as drivers, machine operators and securities."
Mr Lei said there were only 15 foreigners who were working at their site.
"As of November this year, we had donated more than $50,000 to community projects and we are expecting to increase the amount as we have more of our community-centred projects ready to be implemented this month.
"We are looking forward to contributing more towards the development of villages and settlements in the Nawailevu area."
