
India's leading aluminium extrusions manufacturer Jindal Aluminium Limited has signed a contract with Vikram Solar to install a 20 megawatt solar power unit to power its plant near Bengaluru in Karnataka. The project covering 97-acres of land area with over 73,000 solar modules will deliver power output measuring up to 23,000 kWp. As per the contract Vikram will install, operate and manage the plant for initial five years of the project.
Speaking about the development, Gyanesh Chaudhary, MD and CEO of Vikram Solar said, “Thinking and doing beyond conventional expectations is one of the primary mottos of the company. The solar power project for one of the country's biggest aluminium extrusions plants, which is also a part of the state government’s plan to build 1,200 mW of solar power generation across five dozen of its counties, is expected to bring down Vikram’s carbon footprint by over 32 tonnes per annum.

The company currently operates seven aluminium extrusion plants in India with a total nameplate capacity of 128 thousand tonnes per annum and holds a significant 30 per cent share of the domestic extrusion market.
