On Tuesday, May 4, Vietnam announced its decision to keep anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminium products imports. The news came after the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that it decided to continue imposing anti-dumping duties with a tax rate from 4.39 per cent to 35.58 per cent on certain aluminium products originating from China.

Earlier in September, the tax decided was 2.49 per cent to 35.58 per cent when the Ministry issued the decision of imposing anti-dumping duties on aluminium products from China, following an anti-dumping investigation started in January 2019 that found an impact on the domestic aluminium industry.
But many domestic aluminium producers in Vietnam suffered losses, many production sites had to close their operations, while a large number of workers lost jobs due to the dumping of Chinese aluminium products with a tax rate from 2.49 per cent to 35.58 per cent.
In mid-2020, the Ministry received an inquiry to conduct the first review on anti-dumping duties, after which it issued the decision of levying duties on April 20, 2021. A few days later, the duties came into effect on some Chinese aluminium products.
On the same day, the Ministry also issued its decision of imposing anti-dumping duties on some painted flat-rolled alloy and non-alloy steel products originating from China and the Republic of Korea.
