Upstate Shredding – Weitsman Recycling expands in central New York

Upstate Shredding says the acquired scrap yard is in an area where the company does not have a significant presence currently.
“This is a very strategic move for the company as we continue to expand throughout the Northeast,” Adam Weitsman, CEO of Upstate Shredding – Weitsman Recycling .
“We will be investing a lot of money into this location to bring the scrap yard to the high standards that our other yards have become known for,” he continues. “We will turn this scrap yard into the market leader in the region within three months.”
The timing of the new acquisition is ideal, according to Upstate Shredding. The company says it expects to officially open its newest auto shredder in early 2015. The Murtagh purchase will allow Upstate Shredding to strengthen its supply network to feed the new auto shredder.
Weitsman says Upstate Shredding will invest $3 million to renovate the acquired yard. The renovation will include constructing new buildings, purchasing and installing new equipment, paving the entire facility and installing new fencing and landscaping.
Weitsman says existing employees of Murtagh will be retained and an additional 10 jobs will be created once the retail feeder yard reopens under Upstate Shredding’s ownership.
