Salcete truck owners gun for RTA

Truck owners from Salcete hit out at the Rivona Truckers' Association (RTA), who have planned to stop trucks from Navelim, Margao, coastal areas of Benaulim, Colva and Varca from entering mining sites at Rivona.
Speaking on behalf of the Salcete truckers' community, member Sadanand Naik, told mediapersons, "We pay road tax for the entire state of Goa and not just for a specific area. How can such a bias towards Rivona truckers be entertained?"
"We would understand if they demanded that they be given first preference. Do we stop these Rivona truckers when they carry bauxite into Margao and then to the Verna industrial estate?" asked Naik.
Stating that the truckers in the state had always been united, Naik said that the RTA's move was disturbing and that the money generated through the mining business was probably the motive behind the RTA's move.
