RUSAL’s bauxite output in Q4 2016 drops 11.5%; full year output on the rise

UC RUSAL, the leading global integrated aluminium producer, announces its operating results for the fourth quarter 2016 and full year 2016 registering bullish progress in all three business segments: bauxite, alumina and aluminium.

In Q4 2016, Rusal’s total bauxite output totaled 2,841 thousand tons which shows a drop of 11.5% from last quarter production of 3,211 thousand tons. The drop is attributed to reduced bauxite output at the Timan mine which has a capacity of 3.2 million tons per year. In the next quarter the output at the facility is expected to come back to normal capacity.

For the full year 2016, bauxite output totalled 12,187 thousand tons registering a 0.6% increase YOY from 12,112 thousand tons in 2015. Nepheline ore output increased 7.8% Y0Y to 4,432 thousand tons.
