Recycler and trader Larry Sax has died
The death has been announced of Larry Sax, a familiar presence in international recycling circles over many decades. He was 80.

He began his scrap processing and trading career with family business J. Sax & Co. of Chelsea in Massachusetts, USA, and went on to work for several other companies, including Barmet Aluminum Corp., Castech Aluminum and Easco Aluminum.

Heavily involved with the US Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries and predecessor organisation the National Association of Recycling Industries, Sax also joined the BIR world recycling body in the 1980s and became very active within its Non-Ferrous Metals Division, becoming its president in 1992 for a period of six years in which 'he positively impacted not only the development of the division but also of BIR as a whole', the organisation has said in a statement.

He leaves wife Mariette Rita and son David.
