
National Aluminium Company Limited’s (NALCO) Panchpatmali bauxite mine has reportedly bagged the prestigious Pollution Control Excellence Award 2021 for effective and efficient pollution control measures and commendable environmental management practices.

The award, conducted by the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha, was handed over to NALCO by Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha.
Applauding the mining team, NALCO chairman and director Sridhar Patra reaffirmed the company’s commitment towards environment management. He said, ‘’NALCO has always striven for achieving the highest standards in effective environment management. This Award is a testimony to the dedication of NALCO employees who have been passionately working towards following the best Sustainable Mining practices.’’
Some of the notable work done by NALCO’s Panchpatmali Bauxite Mine includes the implementation of zero discharge system for effluent and adoption of concurrent reclamation & rehabilitation of mined out areas.
Besides, the mine has planted more than 37 lakh trees so far and taken several initiatives to improve biodiversity in the mined out areas.
