
Three-month LME aluminium opened at US$2,765 per tonne on Wednesday morning and ranged between US$2,758-2,810 per tonne before closing at US$2,791 per tonne, an increase of US$23 per tonne or 0.83 per cent. Trading volume was 18,734 lots, and open interest decreased by 5,410 lots to 646,000 lots.

On Wednesday, September 8, LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price jumped by US$34.50 per tonne to come in at US$2774.50 per tonne and US$2,775 per tonne, respectively. 3-months bid price and 3-months offer price surged by US$33 per tonne to stand at US$2,792 per tonne and US$2,793 per tonne. Dec 22 bid price stood at US$2,720 per tonne and Dec 22 offer price hovered around US$2,725 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock decreased from 1333625 tonnes to 1334225 tonnes. Live Warrants amounted to 854725 tonnes, while Cancelled Warrants totalled 479500 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-months Asian Reference Price settled at US$ 2,787.86 per tonne as of September 8.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE soared by US$64 per tonne to reach at US$3,435 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2110 aluminium contract opened Wednesday’s night session at RMB 21,950 per tonne, and hit a high of RMB 22,240 per tonne before closing at RMB 22,170 per tonne, up 1.07 per cent. Open interest increased by 1,182 lots to 295,000 lots.
