Indian Governments adopting dual standards regarding bauxite mining issue
The Centre and State Governments are adopting dual standards regarding the bauxite mining issue.The illegal approvals given and the agreements made in the past should be cancelled, said the speakers at the two-day Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch conference, which began on Saturday.

The meeting also discussed among other things about the Constitutional violations by the government by not implementing the 1/70 Act and other tribal acts, displacement of tribal people in the name of mining, the Draft Bill on Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement, which was detrimental to the interests of tribal rights, provision of basic infrastructure in tribal areas, granting of adequate budget for improvement of medical facilities in tribal areas and provision of remunerative prices to tribal produce.
