The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Kwaku Asomah Kyeremeh, has reportedly assured the management of the Ghana Bauxite Company (GBC) that development of the bauxite industry is the government’s one of the top priorities and commitments. For that reason, the government would take every measure to ensure the safety of all workers at the Bauxite Company.

The Minister said this when he visited the GBC in Awaso on Wednesday, June 26, to have discussions with the management and staff of the company, following a protest by the workers for improved working conditions.
The Minister ensured the workers on behalf of the government for good working conditions and living wages. He called on both staff and management to return to the negotiating table and come out with a satisfactory remuneration.
Mr. J. K. Fang, the General Manager of GBC, urged the government to help maintain peace at the company to boost the investors' confidence in the country.
