The Saint-Claude, France-based MBF Aluminium which is on receivership for the last few months, received an offer for taking over on 11th May 2021, which was presented but the Dijon commercial court still finds it too insufficient. A new hearing date is scheduled for 25th May 2021.

Earlier, the commercial court allotted time up to 10th May, for a possible buyer to submit a viable offer for the takeover of MBF Aluminum. However, only one application arrived, that of Mikaël Azoulay, who learned of the case on 9th April 2021.
“It was judged that I did not have enough equity”, said Mikaël. The court would like a candidate with a capital of €1 million. If the State and the Region have granted him loans, the court is first asking for private funds.
"I am not in the automotive sector, taking over this business is first and foremost an opportunity. So if I do not find the court's decision bad, this is also a way of preserving the transmission of ‘company, especially because of its liabilities, the question is whether I will raise the requested equity by May 24?”, added Mikaël Azoulay
In this offer, 229 permanent contracts would be kept on the 272 current employees, as well as the two sites.
On 11th May, it was admitted that this is the only offer that was presented to the Dijon commercial court, but it has the support of the employees.
“It has the merit of existing, it's concrete. If nothing is done yet, we are starting to see the end of the tunnel”, said Koray Sukran of the South union.
For the CGT, Yalcin Nail added: “The problem remains the orders stolen by Renault, in particular on parts of hybrid engines. With 5 to 10 million additional volumes we have a future. "
Since 31st March 2021, the employees of MBF aluminium have been fighting. They never gave up, supported by popular enthusiasm, as on 17th April, the day of demonstration in Saint-Claude when more than a thousand people took to the streets of Saint-Claude.
There was a mobilization in front of Renault's headquarters in Boulogne-Billancourt, in front of the PSA plant in Sochaux, back and forth in front of the prefecture of Lons-le-Saunier, also held a meeting with, Gabriel Attal, the government spokesperson, and then a blockage of the toll of Saint-Martin-du-Fresne, and a tour of France of the foundries.
On 26th April, the Burgundy-Franche-Comté regional council had even voted in aid of €500,000 intended for the payment of 80% of salaries, otherwise, the closure of the city's first private employer would have serious social and economic consequences for the territory.
