According to the Shanghai Metals Market, aluminium billet inventories in China have continued to grow for the third week in a row by 13,100 tonnes or 11.1 per cent on Thursday, August 19. This brings the inventories to 130,630 tonnes from 117,560 tonnes last week, August 12.
SMM survey showed aluminium billet arrivals in south China were comparatively ample, while orders at downstream aluminium extrusion companies were not satisfactory. Besides, aluminium price surge to a 13-year high suppressed consumers buying interest.
