Bauxite Angola plans to continue with Guinea Bissau projects

At the end of a meeting that the chairman of the Angolan company, Bernardo Campos, had with members of the Guinea Bissau transitional government that followed the 12 April coup d’etat, Tegna Na Fafé said that the company had never given up on prospecting work for bauxite exploration.
“The delegation came to tell the transitional authorities that Bauxite Angola has been and is now in Guinea Bissau, where it plans to continue with its work on bauxite exploration and construction of the port of Buba,” said the communications assistant cited by Portuguese news agency Lusa.
At the meeting with the ministers for the presidency of council of ministers, Fernando Vaz, of the economy, José Biai, and of natural resources, Daniel Gomes, Bernardo Campos said that Bauxite Angola was available to continue with its work based on the agreements signed with the previous Guinean government, said Tegna Na Fafé.
Bauxite Angola is an Angola-based company set up for mining and investment in a number of areas, and since 2007 has held mining rights on bauxite reserves in Guinea Bissau.
Geological surveys point to significant bauxite deposits in Boé, some 240 kilometres southeast of Bissau, with estimated reserves of 113 million tons.
