Another bauxite mine

A CHINESE company operating a bauxite mine in Vanua Levu is in the process of setting up another mine there.
The bauxite mine in operation at Bua now will be officially opened on November 8. But the company is already in the process of setting up another bauxite mine in the same area.
The mine is expected to create employment for hundreds of people from the Bua and surrounding areas.
Permanent secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimone Kau told The Fiji Times the ministry had high hopes for the mining sector.
"We are targeting that we will, as a mining sector, increase our input into the Gross Domestic Product of the country," he said.
