AMAG, the leading Austrian premium supplier of high-quality aluminium cast and flat-rolled products has been awarded “Gold Star” certification for its sustainability performance by the independent, internationally recognized sustainability and CSR assessment platform EcoVadis.

AMAG scored 69 points in total, placing it in the top 2% of all evaluated companies in the precious metals and other non-ferrous metals category.
Gerald Mayer, CEO, AMAG said: “Verifiable sustainability is a pivotal element of our corporate strategy and also plays an important role for our customers. This result shows that we don’t just pay lip service to sustainability, but factor it into all our processes. It reaffirms our continued and systematic commitment to our sustainability strategy.”
AMAG deals with varied industries such as the aircraft, automotive, sports equipment, lighting, mechanical engineering, construction and packaging industries.
The rating is based on an assessment of 21 criteria in four categories: environment, ethics, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement. The assessment includes, for example, measures to reduce energy and water consumption, the impact of company activities on biodiversity, management of occupational safety hazards, and waste reduction. The EcoVadis experts highlighted AMAG’s especially strong environmental performance and labour and human rights record.
As a recycling expert, AMAG is committed to promoting a closed-loop economy and to further increase its recycling rate, which at 75% to 80% is already above the industry average. In the future, the industry-specific benchmarks of the EcoVadis ranking will make it even easier for AMAG’s clients and partners to compare and rank the company’s performance in terms of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The EcoVadis platform was developed to help companies better manage and communicate their CSR performance in a transparent and verifiable manner. EcoVadis uses a defined set of questions to analyse and evaluate company performance. The method is based on international sustainability standards and combines the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, ISO 26000, and other industry standards. More than 60,000 companies worldwide entrust the EcoVadis assessment service with the analysis of their value chains and share the results with their stakeholders.
