The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Hydro’s aluminium extrusion plant in Tønder, Southern Denmark, with its both Performance Standard Certification and Chain of Custody Standard.

The certification covers the Tønder plant’s production of aluminium solutions, including extrusion and fabrication activities, and surface treatment.
“It is great seeing how our hard work during this difficult year has been rewarded. ASI Certification represents a new step in our sustainability agenda, and it supports our customer demands for aluminium products that are sourced and produced responsibly,” said Mette Boye Sørensen, the plant manager.
Hydro’s aluminium extrusion plant in Tønder develops and produces over 25,000 tonnes of aluminium profiles annually with two extrusion lines. The plant also has an in-house fabrication line and offers surface treatment capabilities to its customers.
Hydro employs 260 people at its Tønder extrusion plant, and around 700 in total in Denmark.
In April 2020, Hydro’s aluminium tubing plant in Tønder had received Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s both Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard certifications.
