According to the data found by the International Aluminium Institute, alumina production in South America during July 2021 came in at 1.019 million tonnes, essentially unchanged from June 2021 and 1.018 million tonnes in May. South America's alumina output had last recorded a change in May by reflecting a decrease of 4.32 per cent from 1.064 million tonnes in April 2021.
On a year-on-year calculation, alumina production in South America during July 2021 stood 4 per cent higher than 980,000 tonnes.
From January to July, South America produced 7.366 million tonnes of alumina in total, up by 4.23 per cent from 7.067 million tonnes during the same period last year.
In July 2021, alumina production in North America stood at 234,000 tonnes during July 2021, 4 per cent more than 225,000 tonnes in June 2021. On a year-on-year basis, the output grew 3,000 tonnes or 1.30 per cent from 231,000 tonnes.
During January-July 2021, North America’s total alumina production amounted to 1.517 million tonnes, down by 2.13 per cent from 1.550 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
Daily average alumina output in North & South America during July 2021 stood at 394,600 tonnes, slightly dipped by 0.15 per cent from 395,200 tonnes in June 2021.
