Australian mineral exploration and development company Impact Minerals has reported a net loss after tax of AUD 4.89 million (USD 3.42 million) for the financial year ended June 30, 2026, compared with AUD 9.02 million (USD 6.31 million) in the previous year, as it advances its strategic transition towards high-purity alumina (HPA) production using its Western Australian salt lake resources.
The company's FY2026 Annual Report outlines a major shift in its business direction, with HPA development taking centre stage as Impact seeks to establish a position in the supply chains serving electric vehicle batteries, semiconductors, LED lighting and other advanced technology applications.
Impact Minerals holds an 80 per cent interest in the Lake Hope HPA project in Western Australia and a 50 per cent interest in Alluminous, a separate HPA development venture. Both form part of its strategy to advance towards commercial production, although they remain at different stages of development.
The company said its financial performance reflected a year of project development, metallurgical testing and corporate restructuring as it worked to focus its operations on HPA.
Lake Hope anchors Impact Minerals' HPA ambitions
The Lake Hope project is central to Impact Minerals' plans to develop a high-purity alumina business based on its Western Australian salt lake resources.
Its pre-feasibility study reported a post-tax net present value (NPV10) of AUD 1.165 billion (USD 814.35 million) and a post-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 47 per cent. The study outlined a proposed annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of HPA over a projected 33-year mine life, with estimated pre-production capital expenditure of AUD 259 million (USD 181.04 million).
Development activity has since advanced. In an October 26, 2026 update, Impact Minerals said the Lake Hope pilot plant design had been completed, equipment purchased and construction commenced. The pilot programme is intended to support further development and technical evaluation of the project.

Alluminous advances HPA qualification and production plans
Alongside Lake Hope, Impact Minerals is progressing its HPA interests through Alluminous, in which it holds a 50 per cent stake.
Alluminous has been developing its HiPurA® high-purity alumina product through pilot-scale processing in Perth. During the reporting period, it sent approximately 15 kg of HPA samples to US battery technology company Charge CCCV (C4V) for evaluation.
The two companies have a non-exclusive technology collaboration agreement covering potential applications of HPA in battery technologies, including separator coatings, ceramic layers and solid-state battery components.
The collaboration is intended to support product qualification and assess the suitability of Alluminous' material for advanced battery applications. It does not represent a binding product supply or offtake agreement.
On September 7, 2026, Alluminous also released an independent scoping study examining a staged HPA production facility with a proposed capacity of 2,000 to 4,000 tonnes per year. The study favoured a location in the United States.
Capital raises support corporate restructuring
Impact Minerals raised AUD 4.1 million (USD 2.87 million) through a placement in September 2025, followed by a further AUD 2 million (USD 1.40 million) placement in March 2026. After the financial year ended, the company completed a rights issue that raised approximately AUD 2.2 million (USD 1.54 million).
The board also endorsed a 100-day plan beginning in August 2026 to prepare the business for institutional investment. Its objectives include developing a new corporate identity, a three-year strategy, a business plan, a capital management plan, and risk and environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks.
In its October 26 update, the company said its strategic direction and HPA focus had been completed, while the wider 100-day plan was approximately 50 per cent complete.
The capital raising and restructuring initiatives form part of Impact's efforts to direct resources towards its HPA development activities and strengthen its corporate framework as it moves beyond its earlier exploration-focused business model.

Leadership changes accompany HPA transition
Founding chairman Peter Unsworth retired on July 31, 2025, with Paul Ingram subsequently serving as interim chair. James McKerlie joined the board on June 8, 2026, and later assumed the role of executive chair.
Scott Phegan joined as executive director on December 12, 2025. Dr Mike Jones, who had served as managing director for 20 years, stepped down on September 25, 2026.
Impact Minerals also appointed Dr Lana Weldon as an independent non-executive director on October 28, 2026. Her professional background includes more than 30 years of experience in accounting, audit, business advisory and corporate governance.
The company is expected to appoint a chief executive as its transition towards an HPA-focused business progresses.
Impact Minerals sharpens focus on high-purity alumina
Impact Minerals' FY2026 results reflect a period of financial restructuring and a change in strategic priorities, with the company placing greater emphasis on advancing its HPA development projects.
The Lake Hope pilot plant programme and Alluminous' product qualification work represent separate steps in its efforts to establish a position in the high-purity alumina market. Potential applications across battery technologies, semiconductors, LED lighting and advanced ceramics provide the broader commercial context for these developments.
However, both projects still require further technical and commercial progress before their proposed production plans can translate into operating facilities.
With its revised corporate strategy, ongoing project development and institutional investment readiness programme, Impact Minerals is now directing its next phase towards advancing its Western Australian HPA interests and assessing opportunities in international markets.
