
According to the International Aluminium Institute, alumina production in South America stood at 945,000 tonnes in November 2021, a decrease of 40,000 tonnes or 4.06 per cent from a month ago. In October, the output in South America was 985,000 tonnes, which was up by 12.70 per cent from 874,000 tonnes in September.

On a year-on-year calculation, alumina production in South America during November 2021 was 35,000 tonnes or 3.57 per cent lower than 980,000 tonnes.
From January to November 2021, South America’s alumina production totalled 11.107 million tonnes, up by 4.04 per cent from 10.676 million tonnes a year ago.
In North America, alumina production in November 2021 amounted to 209,000 tonnes, down by 2,000 tonnes month-on-month from 211,000 tonnes. In September, alumina output in North America was 158,000 tonnes, meaning the production in October edged a month-on-month hike of 33.54 per cent.
On a year-on-year calculation, alumina output in North America during November recorded a downfall of 18,000 tonnes or 7.93 per cent from 227,000 tonnes.
From January to November, alumina production in North America stood at 2.307 million tonnes in total, down by 5.53 per cent from 2.442 million tonnes during the same period last year.
