On Thursday, August 25, Australian Aluminium Council announced the joining of Alspec Aluminium Systems as its new council member. Alspec is a significant player in Australia's downstream aluminium market, offering a wide selection of aluminium systems and products to architects, specifiers, fabricators, builders, and renovators for use in commercial, residential, home improvement, and industrial applications.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with The Council and its members to ensure the sustainable production of bauxite, alumina and aluminium and downstream industries. ALSPEC is committed to zero carbon emissions by 2050 and building a smarter, more sustainable future for Australia,” said Paul Nakhele, ALSPEC Managing Director.
Alspec is a wholly Australian-owned business with more than 650 employees spread over 14 locations and more than 80 per cent of its aluminium coming from Australian extruders. The company has been operating in this country for more than 40 years.
The Council represents Australia's largest value-added manufacturing sector at every stage, including exploration for bauxite, mining, refining of alumina, smelting and extrusion of aluminium, and downstream distribution by businesses like Alspec.
“Welcoming a company of Alspec’s stature marks an important milestone for the Council as it seeks to deepen its engagement with the broader aluminium industry to chart the best path forward for a smarter, greener built environment,” said Australian Aluminium Council Chief Executive Officer, Margharita Johnson.
