Vimetco Bauxite Mining Company in Sierra Leone is showing positive changes

I recently visited the company office at the Gondama Plant Site where apparently pleased workers showered praise on the South African General Manager, Theo Keyter, and his team for their dynamism and developmental initiatives. The workers admitted that they are now being supplied with proper protective equipment that help them work under safety conditions, adding that their conditions of service have become comparatively better.
The workers also commended the South African Management for drastically minimizing diesel theft by their recent disciplinary action of instantly firing five workers who were caught red-handed stealing diesel, further lauding the South Africans for maintaining a very cordial relationship with almost all the workers just as the Romanians do.
The residents of the various communities around the Sierra Rutile area where the Vimetco Bauxite Company operates also rained praise on the company for fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by providing a series of development projects in their communities among them roads and water wells apart from the numerous jobs provided for dozens of youths.
One of the Paramount Chiefs of the mining chiefdoms, Tommy Jombla, described the presence of Vimetco as a big blessing to their communities considering the tremendous assistance the company is rendering to their people. PC Jombla urged his people to embrace the company wholeheartedly and to show more gratitude to the company for the many development projects it has been providing for them, concluding that Vimetco has always been expressing its determination to give them more support.
