Varron group inaugurates aluminium alloy manufacturing plant in Nagpur

Shrikaant Sawaiika promoted Varron group recently inaugurated the first phase of its aluminium and other base metal alloy plant in Nagpur, India. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport, Highways & Shipping, did the honours in the presence of group Chairman and Managing Director, Shrikaant Sawaiikar.
Being commissioned under the umbrella of Varron Auto Kast, the 110-acre plant will cater to the automotive, engineering and construction industries. The integrated facility includes an aluminium alloy manufacturing factory, aluminium pressure die-casting, aluminium extrusions, copper and forging plant.
The Varron group which started as a small forging company in Sangli way back in the late 1980s, has grown over the years into a trusted aluminium ingot supplier for the Automobile, Power, Electric and Electronics, Aviation, and Construction sectors. Presently, it has embarked upon a new journey of strategic expansion.
According to the company sources, this is the Varron group’s third and largest plant equipped with ultramodern facilities and the latest technology. The other two facilities are located at Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The plant will kick off with an initial investment of INR 125 crore of the total planned outlay of INR 600 crore.
It is expected to use 50 per cent of its capacity in three years. “The plant will also have a dedicated training centre for skill development,” says Venkatesh Sawaiikar, Director.
Shrikaant Sawaiikar believes Vidharbha will be the next potential growth area in Maharashtra. Gadkari said he was talks with various industrialists to set up their units in Nagpur too. It now remains to be seen what the reaction will be given that the favoured investment destinations for the auto sector are Chakan and Ranjangaon near Pune.
