US issues final antidumping determinations on Vietnamese aluminium extrusions

The United States Department of Commerce (DOC) has declared final determinations on antidumping investigations into aluminium extrusions and products imported from Vietnam. The news came on Thursday, October 17, after the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam officially reported.

The investigation began on October 24, 2023, and the preliminary determinations imposing anti-subsidy tax rates between 2.85 per cent and 41.84 per cent were announced on May 7, 2024.

Three days ago, the Department of Commerce named thirteen other countries involved in dumping aluminium extrusions in the US market, including China, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

As per the report, the Department of Commerce has notified the US International Trade Commission (ITC) of its final determination. The ITC will now examine whether the Vietnamese products adversely affect the US domestic aluminium extrusion industry. If no material injury or threat is found, the proceeding will be terminated and all cash deposits will be refunded; otherwise, the department will issue an antidumping duty order.

The Vietnam Association of Aluminum is recommended to inform domestic manufacturers and exporters about the final determination update, while enterprises are asked to keep a close watch on developments in ITC investigations.
