
The United States imports of aluminium scrap from Canada stood at 36,900 tonnes in June 2021, an increase of 2,800 tonnes or 8.21 per cent month-on-month, found the US Census Bureau. In May, the US imported 34,100 tonnes of aluminium scrap, essentially unchanged from 34,200 tonnes in April 2021.

Total imports in the three-month period ended June 30 amounted to 105,200 tonnes, up by 7.02 per cent from 98,300 tonnes in Q1 2021.
On a year-on-year basis, the United States’ aluminium scrap imports from Canada in June 2021 stood 20.59 per cent higher than 30,600 tonnes.
During the first half of the year, the imports from Canada came in at 203,000 tonnes, 29.30 per cent more year-on-year than 157,000 tonnes.
The United States’ total aluminium imports (including aluminium crude metals and alloys and aluminium plates, sheets and bars) in June 2021 stood at 273,000 tonnes, slightly up by 1.11 per cent from 270,000 tonnes in June 2020.
In H1 2021, the United States total aluminium imports amounted to 1.55 million tonnes compared to 726,000 tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
